Lose Weight
Post-Pregnancy Workouts that Help With Weight Loss
When you first found out you were pregnant, your doctor likely told you to start gaining weight.
Weight gain is a natural part of being pregnant. Eating for two makes it pretty easy to gain weight. Now that you have had your baby, though, you're probably anxious to lose the weight that you have gained. You want your figure to back to how it was before. Keep reading to learn three ways that you can get your figure back after you have had your baby. Try any one of these tips to help you get back to your old size.
Drawing In: This exercise is great for women who have just given birth because, in addition to helping you lose weight, it will make your back, abs and core stronger which will help you regain your posture as well as increasing your metabolism. Position yourself on all fours with your hands directly underneath your shoulders. Then you pull in your abs while taking care to keep your neck and spine in a line. Breathe in through your nostrils while you keep your back straight and then, while pulling your navel up into your spine (while keeping the spine still) breathe back out. Do this twelve times and then do three sets of twelve to really work out your abs and your core.
Pilates: You might think pilates is slow but it will help you burn over two hundred calories every hour that you do it.
That's quite a lot of calorie shedding with very few movements. You can usually find some videos on the internet or you can purchase a DVD or book that will give you some moves you can do while your baby is napping. One of the best exercises to do after giving birth is to lie on your back and bend your knees. Put your hands behind your head and take a breath. Then, breathe out as you contract your abs and lift your head and shoulders off the floor. Then, move your legs into a forty five degree angle while you extend your arms, keeping your palms down. Pump your arms in a rhythmic manner while inhaling for five beats. Then use five beats to breathe back out. Try to do 100 of these and you'll be in great shape in no time at all.
Using the classic crunch method you already know you can strengthen abs and lose weight too. Most know that crunches simply require laying on the ground with your hands behind your head and your knees bent. Lift your head and shoulders off the floor inhale through your nose and exhale as you tighten your abs. Relax your behind while bringing your hips and ribs toward one another. Now slowly, lower to the starting position and repeat. Do as many of these as you can, working towards 20, then 50. When you can do fifty, you may want to add a small weight to make it a little challenging, but be careful that you don't hurt yourself.
Each of these exercises are doable while your baby is sleeping. Even if your only option is to do lots of shorter exercises during your day instead of doing a single, long workout it is far better to do that than not to work out at all. It isn't hard to lose baby weight if that is what you want to do. Thankfully, each of these three exercises will help you get there--if you do them often enough.
